Childhood
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but raised in a suburb just outside of Dallas, Texas. His parents were both originally from Canada, making him the first in the family to be born in the U.S. When he wasn’t playing video games or running barefoot around the neighborhood as a kid, you could find him glued to YouTube, watching interesting people in interesting places eating all sorts of interesting foods.
Education
He attended high school in Texas and knew that he was ready for a change in scenery ahead of graduation. This brought him to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, where he earned bachelors’ degrees in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering.
Professional Life
In high school, he spent several summers working as a camp counselor at a sports camp (cliché, I know). During college, part time gigs included mathematics tutoring, working the late night freight shift at home depot, and holding a position within the university’s IT department. After graduating, he started a full time job biomedical consulting. Now, he works as a systems engineer for a different company in the area.
Travels
Growing up, his most frequent travels involved visiting family in Canada, which usually involved multi-day road trips. While most adults would avoid these drives like the plague, a nostalgic piece of him looks for excuses to make similar ones. He has traveled to 8 European countries and most recently completed the North Americas via a brief stopover in Mexico. He visited Asia for the first time recently and has a goal to visit each of the continents and 50 U.S. states.
Hobbies
As a kid, his grandpa would bring back coins from each new country he visited. He would love to visit world mints in their future travels and slowly revive this tradition in the process. If you dig deep enough, you may even find his old coin collecting YouTube channel. Okay, you’re probably wondering if there’s anything more interesting Well, watching professional soccer is a casual past time of his and despite having played high school football in Texas, he stands with the rest of the world on the nomenclature debate (I mean it’s literally a ball you control with your foot… I digress). I think that’s about it for hobbies. Like I said, he isn’t the most interesting.
Favorite Foods
He is probably one of the most open minded people when it comes to food, but a few dishes stand out above the rest. Call me crazy, but as a native Cincinnatian, I actually enjoy Skyline Chili. My favorite foods are cyclical but some of the most common include Rendang, Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup (she is credited with introducing him to this), and Biryani. Okay, let’s talk sweets now. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m dangerously obsessed with Cinnamon rolls. More specifically, the cheap ones which scare you when you pop the can. Other favorites include Belgium waffles and Hawaiian shave ice.
Least Favorite Foods
This one’s tough. As a matter of principle, I’ll only mention things which I’ve tried and given a fair chance. Like I said before, I pretty much enjoy anything I eat, but Taiwanese stinky tofu pretty clearly breaks this trend. There’s other foods which I can speculate that I wouldn’t like, but this is the one that stands out to me. Oh, and he’s also not convinced that anyone actually enjoys Swiss cheese, there are just so many better alternatives.
Personality Type
INFJ-T (Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging – Turbulent)
He has to be the most introverted person in the world… except when it comes to animals. With a strong Type B personality and the attention span of a squirrel, there’s a reason that she’s the brains behind most of their travel logistics. He has a love for fun facts which often leads to what he calls “micro-obsessions”. Whether it be the historical context behind tipping culture, evolution of the platypus, or advancements in biofuels, he’s always exploring some weird niche.
